There are two ways to fill the battery either to specific level or to a specific volume.
The filling process is either pressure aided or vacuum aided
Based on this Källström offers three types of automatic machines see table below?

?SF 4-2 is mainly used for filling before formation (initial filling) and filling/top-up leveling after formation. The leveling is made is made by vacuum.
The machine can be equipped with an acid level control unit, which ensures a good level in each cell.
The filling accuracy is ±1mm
SF4-21 is used for before formation mainly when one-shot formation is used.
The volume is measured by either turbine wheel or electromagnetic flow sensors.
The filling accuracy is ±0.5-1% depending on filling volume and flow sensor.
SF S4-4 can be used both before and after formation.
The filling accuracy is ±1mm
?All the machine consist of a stand, pneumatic and electrical cabinets, a belt conveyor, a filling unit with one or two filling stations and a acid tank located at the bottom of the stand.
The machines are available with one (S) or two (D) filling heads.
For high capacity up to 15 batteries/min we offer a modified double machine that fills four batteries at the same time (two batteries/filling head) this machine is called SF4-24D.
If required we can offer machines with three or four filling heads for even higher filling capacity.

The filling nozzles are equipped with optical senors for level control.
All parts coming in direct contact with acid are made of PVC/PP or Hastelloy.
The stand, cabinets and cylinders are made of acid-proof stainless steel.
Options
Optical sensors for level control are very common for top up levelling applications.
A reject station can be added that rejects batteries that are not filled correctly.
